CONCRETE LEVELING AND MUDJACKING

Concrete Leveling or Mudjacking

Concrete leveling, also known as mudjacking, slab jacking, or polyurethane foam leveling, is a versatile and efficient method used to repair uneven or sunken concrete surfaces. Over time, factors such as soil erosion, settlement, or poor compaction can cause concrete slabs to sink or become uneven, creating trip hazards and compromising the structural integrity of the surface.

During the concrete leveling process, specialized materials are injected beneath the sunken concrete slab through strategically placed access holes. In traditional mudjacking, a mixture of cement, water, and other additives, commonly referred to as "mud," is pumped beneath the slab to fill voids and gaps, raising it back to its original position and providing additional support. Alternatively, polyurethane foam leveling involves injecting expanding polyurethane foam beneath the slab, which lifts and levels the concrete by expanding and filling voids beneath the surface. Lastly, slab jacking utilizes a combination of hydraulic pressure and a cementitious grout mixture to lift and level the concrete slab.

Each method of concrete leveling has its advantages and applications. Traditional mudjacking is a cost-effective solution for larger, heavier concrete slabs, such as sidewalks or driveways. Polyurethane foam leveling is ideal for smaller, more delicate surfaces or areas where weight is a concern, as it is lighter and expands to fill voids more efficiently. Slab jacking, with its hydraulic lifting capabilities, is suitable for precise leveling and can be used on a variety of concrete surfaces.

Regardless of the method used, concrete leveling provides property owners with a reliable and long-lasting solution for addressing settlement issues and restoring the integrity of their concrete surfaces. By lifting and leveling existing concrete slabs, concrete leveling restores the functionality and safety of surfaces while minimizing downtime and disruption, ultimately extending the lifespan of concrete structures.
